Hey all!
So, today was the first day of my new job. Before you ask, it's at a shoes store. Now, some of you know I have had a sales position in shoes before, and know that I SWORE never to return(!!) ,but, this is considerably better circumstances:
1) My health has been on an upward climb. Those that know me well know that this climb has been long awaited and long overdue, lol. Now that I feel more like 'me' than I had for a while, I feel I can handle the extra workload.( Do you live with Celiac Disease or Candida as well? Contact me! We can share tips and recipes!)
2) AMAZING hours!! No sundays, and they're only open from 10-6 most days!
3) Darn good pay,for retail. (but I assume that as with most companies I can't give a number. Not that it's any of your business, hehe.)
4) The bosses are pretty cool about everything, and my only coworker seems like he'll be easy to get along with.
And last, but not least, I have the motivation of knowing my earnings will be
invested in a house and not feel that they are being squandered on rent...on a place I can never call my own. Not saying we have a house yet, but soon...within the next 3 months soon is our goal. I CAN'T WAIT!
So what does this mean for EllaPhante, you ask? Well I will tell you. I was up front about having my own biz everywhere that I applied, so, having been hired with that in mind, the hours are reasonable. I have it all planned out. Photoshoots (the professional ones at least) will be more sporadic for a while. For most things I feel I may go back to doing my own photos,at least for the first few months.
Other than that, I expect to keep moving forward, never backward. I have a list of goals for myself,in effect from now until the end of 2009, and then I will re evaluate:) Wanna see my list?Ok!
1)Make and list at least one new item per week.(this includes a new color of items already listed.not always a whole new listing. The item can be for either shop.)Sounds easy right? Well, that's actually a pretty good crunch..because for every item I am pleased with and want to photo and list, there is at least one project that goes unlisted and usually unfinished, because I was trying something new and didn't like how it turned out. I'm trying to be more editorial about my line, and define more of a look, so one new item in the shop per week may mean most of my hours spent just playing.
2) Have my
ready-to-ship shop stocked with at least one item in each section by November 1st.
3) starting in November,(once said shop is starting to fill up) get more promotion going for the
ready-to-ship.4) I am keeping my 2009 goal of averaging a sale a week. I realize that some weeks I will get none, and other weeks I will get tons, but I would like to see it average out to at least that.So basically I am hoping to get at least 10 online sales between now and the end of december.(hopefully more!)
What do you think? Realistic?Too short a list?Too long? I'd love to hear some thoughts on this! Those of you that work for the man AND for yourself, what special tips do you have for getting it all done and being sane?
PS- Don't forget!!!! My
custom clothes shop is celebrating ONE YEAR on ETSY all of October with a SALE!!! Only 2 more weeks to take advantage of getting 10% off your entire order!!!!!!
